Bouncy Castle Safety Instructions and Rules

This document explains the principal rules for supervising and using our inflatables. Similar instructions may also be displayed directly on the equipment.

Responsibilities of the Hirer

The customer or organisation hiring the equipment is responsible for taking reasonable steps to prevent injury, misuse and damage. A responsible adult must supervise the inflatable continuously and enforce the instructions supplied by our team.

Never leave an inflatable operating without supervision.

Rules for Users

  1. Follow the stated age, height and user restrictions. Nobody outside the limits given for the individual inflatable may use it.

  2. Remove shoes before entry. Shoes must remain outside the inflatable and clear of its entrance.

  3. Remove unsuitable personal items. Badges, jewellery, keys and other hard or sharp objects must be removed. Spectacles should also be removed where possible.

  4. Keep food, drinks and chewing gum outside. These can cause choking, spillages, stains and damage.

  5. Do not use face paints, party poppers, coloured streamers or silly string near the inflatable. These products can permanently stain the material.

  6. No smoking or vaping beside the equipment. Keep naked flames, barbecues and other heat sources well away.

  7. Do not climb, hang or sit on the walls. The walls are not designed as climbing or seating areas.

  8. Do not use the entrance step as a bouncing area. Children should enter and leave promptly so the entrance remains clear.

  9. Nobody may use the inflatable during inflation or deflation. Wait until our team or the responsible supervisor confirms that it is ready.

Supervision and User Numbers

  1. A responsible adult must supervise continuously. The supervisor should remain attentive and positioned where they can see the entrance and users.

  2. Do not overcrowd the inflatable. Follow the user-number information supplied for the individual unit. If children are regularly colliding, reduce the number immediately.

  3. Separate users of substantially different sizes. Smaller and larger children should take separate turns when shared use would be unsuitable.

  4. Provide closer supervision where required. Some children may need individual assistance or more careful monitoring.

  5. Keep the entrance and exit clear. Do not allow children or spectators to sit, play or queue on the safety mats.

  6. Do not permit unsuitable users. Anyone who is unwell, intoxicated or unable to follow the rules must not use the equipment.

Medical Considerations

Anyone with a back or neck condition, or another medical issue that could make inflatable play unsuitable, should not use the equipment without appropriate professional advice.

Pregnant users must not use a bouncy castle. The responsible adult should prevent participation whenever they are uncertain that use is appropriate.

Rain and Wet Surfaces

  1. Stop use when surfaces become wet. Ask all users to leave because the bed, steps, slides and safety mats may become slippery.

  2. Follow the wet-weather instructions supplied at delivery. Whether the inflatable should remain running will depend on the equipment and conditions.

  3. Keep electrical connections protected. Do not touch plugs, cables or the blower with wet hands, and do not improvise covers or alterations to the setup.

  4. Dry the inflatable before use resumes. Once conditions improve, remove standing water with clean towels and check the entrance, bed, slide and mats carefully.

Contact us if you are uncertain what to do. Do not place furniture or improvised covers over the blower because its air intake must remain unobstructed.

Wind and Changing Weather

  1. Stop use immediately when instructed or when conditions become unsuitable. Remove every user before beginning any shutdown procedure.

  2. Follow the operating limit for the individual inflatable. Different products may have different permitted wind speeds.

  3. Do not rely on a general weather forecast alone. Conditions at the setup position can differ from those reported for the wider area.

  4. Never move or alter the anchors yourself. Contact us if an anchor, rope or part of the installation appears loose or disturbed.

Blower and Power Problems

  1. Keep the blower air intake clear. Do not cover it or allow bags, clothing, decorations, leaves or furniture to obstruct it.

  2. Keep children and guests away from the blower. Nobody should sit on it, touch it or alter its position.

  3. If the inflatable begins losing pressure, remove all users immediately. Do not allow anyone to re-enter while the cause is being investigated.

  4. Do not repeatedly reset or restart equipment. Switch off the supply if it is safe to do so and call us immediately on 07944 487 578 for instructions.

  5. Do not use alternative electrical equipment without permission. The supplied blower and approved power arrangement form part of the installation.

Protecting the Equipment and Setup

  1. Do not move the inflatable after installation. Its position and anchoring have been selected by our team.

  2. Do not remove stakes, sandbags, ropes or safety mats. Keep guests away from all anchoring equipment.

  3. Do not attach decorations to the inflatable. Tape, pins, string and adhesives can damage or stain the material.

  4. Keep animals away. Pets must not enter or interfere with the inflatable or installation equipment.

  5. Remove personal belongings before collection. Check the inflatable for toys, clothing and other items before our driver arrives.

Unsuitable Sites

M&C Bouncy Castle Hire will not install equipment when the proposed site, surface, access, weather or surrounding conditions are unsuitable. The customer must provide accurate information when booking and clear the agreed area before delivery.

For indoor hire, the customer is responsible for checking the floor area and ceiling clearance beneath the lowest beam, light, heater or other obstruction.

Damage, Misuse and Liability

All users participate subject to the hire rules and instructions provided with the equipment.

The individual or organisation hiring the equipment may be held responsible for damage or injury resulting from misuse, reckless behaviour or failure to follow the supplied instructions.

The hirer is responsible for making sure these rules are communicated to supervising adults and observed throughout the hire. Please read the full terms of hire PDF and the document presented for signature at delivery.
